ABOUT THE COURSE
80 hours
There are 4 levels of certification recognized in SAR. They are Awareness, Operational, Technician, Supervision. The Wilderness Responder is the mid-level operational certification. It prepares you for assisting in wilderness searches. It does not prepare you to do things like hanging off ropes, or rappelling from helicopters.
Your role as a wilderness responder may involve various tasks such as overnight wilderness searching, Stokes litter carry-outs, field interviews, grid searching in national parks, land-based navigation, mantracking awareness, lost person behavior, gear knowledge, and providing initial treatment to missing or injured individuals until they can be transported to a medical facility. If you want to become a skilled wilderness search and rescue responder Internationally accredited by The National Association for Search and Rescue, this course is tailored for you. We will make sure all of the requirements to succeed in the real world will come forth during this course
